An Electrifying Smile" Update
Dear friends, Here is an update on the status of the project. All of you who have so generously collaborated have received an e-mail with the same information. As we told you in the presentation of the project, the company Reby commissioned us to repair their batteries. Although this task has begun, we have had to stop it due to a repeated and continuous non-payment in the logistics tasks that we had contracted with them. Currently the debt that Reby has contracted with La Sonrisa de Guille exceeds €60,000, with some invoices overdue for more than a year. You are probably wondering how we got into this situation and why, just two months ago, we were still trusting them. Although it may be difficult to understand, we will try to explain it in the best possible way: In April last year we started to notice the non-payment by Reby and we discussed it with them. At that time, we were told that they had cash flow tensions because they were planning to sell the company and they needed the company to have as much capital as possible at the time of the transaction. That was indeed the situation and in May last year, the sale of Reby to the Canadian House of Lithium for 100,000,000 dollars was published in the press. https://www.lavanguardia.com/economia/20220511/8258174/house-of-lithium-compra-reby-empresas-movilidad-compartida-mas-grande-europa.html https://www.businessinsider.es/reby-mira-eeuu-despues-ser-comprada-fondo-canadiense-1076537 You can imagine how happy we were at that moment as service providers to Reby, as this situation was going to benefit us all. Despite this, payments still did not arrive despite our insistence and we were always told that it was because they were waiting for House of Lithium to execute their payment plan. Back in the summer, we were told that they were in negotiations with House of Lithium because House of Lithium wanted to reduce the purchase price of Reby as much as possible and that the Canadians had suspended payments as a means of pressure. In October, this situation was reported in the press, stating that Reby had sued House of Lithium at the end of August for non-payment: https://hipertextual.com/2022/10/pep-gomez-fundador-reby-demanda Reby asked us to hold off for a while, claiming that there would never be a trial, as House of Lithium wanted to negotiate and would pay soon. Also at that time the case of Elon Musk and Twitter comes up, this being an analogous situation and forcing Musk to buy Twitter. According to what we have been told from the beginning from Reby, the court is the same as in that case, the lawyers are the same,... in short, that they consider it to be won. We are also told that, although it is unlikely, if the trial is lost, there are several companies interested in buying Reby and as time goes by there is good news: https://www.libremercado.com/2022-11-29/cofides-acompana-a-la-empresa-reby-en-su-consolidacion-en-italia-6961004/ In December the trial will be held. We are told that it is more than won and the judgement will come out on 20 February 2023. Despite the encouraging news, we have not been able to withstand the economic pressure and have been forced to suspend activities for Reby (we remind you that the debt owed to us exceeds €60,000). Although until recently we were still confident that the situation would be reversed and we would be paid as soon as the trial was held or sold to another company, the latest news (already in January) does not give us much hope: https://sevilla.abc.es/sevilla/empresa-patinetes-reby-abandona-previo-aviso-actividad-20230103122914-nts.html https://www.diarimes.com/es/noticias/tarragona/2023/01/10/la_empresa_patinetes_electricos_reby_deja_operar_tarragona_sin_previo_aviso_132190_1091.html https://www.heraldo.es/noticias/aragon/zaragoza/2023/01/14/reby-lleva-patinetes-goteo-empresas-vehiculos-alquiler-se-marcha-zaragoza-1624452.html https://www.heraldo.es/noticias/aragon/zaragoza/2023/01/14/reby-lleva-patinetes-goteo-empresas-vehiculos-alquiler-se-marcha-zaragoza-1624452.html https://monterrassa.cat/societat/medi-ambient/terrassa-sense-bicis-patinets-electrics-compartits-reby-314268/ https://www.quotidianodipuglia.it/lecce/monopattini_scooter_sharing_comune_revoca_affidamento_gestore_lecce-7137335.html As you can see, Reby has withdrawn from almost all its places, so it is unlikely that the situation will be reversed. In view of this situation, we have decided to freeze the "An Electrifying Smile" project until the situation with Reby is resolved or we find an alternative client. In this sense, we are contacting all possible shared electric mobility operators to try to collaborate with them in this task. From La Sonrisa de Guille, we can only apologise for the situation and we are at your disposal for any questions you may have. Of course, if anyone wants to revert their donation to this project, just send us an email with your bank details and we will reimburse it immediately by bank transfer. On the other hand, we are working on your rewards to send them to you as soon as possible. Hugs and kisses, La Sonrisa de Guille
